Maybe a new cycle draws different characters based on the slightly changed circumstances. Look into what they're just now doing with Eddie in the comics. When Susannah is trying to convince Oy to go through the final door with her, I can't remember the exact phrasing but I'm sure it implies that upon hearing Jake's name, it appeared as though Oy had forgotten about him. But he never mentioned Oy! It really struck me as odd and bothered me far more than any other niggling issues I had. Did it bug anyone else that when Roland was making his final, triumphant march towards the Dark Tower, he recanted everyone's names from Cuthbert Allgood to Aaron Deepneau.
